    1. High-Temperature Mechanical Integrity

    Creep Resistance: Grades 800H/HT are specifically engineered with controlled carbon and grain size to maximize creep and stress rupture strength, essential for long-term load-bearing parts in high-temperature furnaces.

    Thermal Management (900 Series): The 900 series (903, 909) are designed to maintain dimensional stability due to their low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), critical for minimizing thermal stress in complex aerospace assemblies.

    2. Corrosion and SCC Resistance

    Aqueous Corrosion (825, 925): The high nickel and molybdenum content provides strong defense against pitting, crevice corrosion, and aggressive non-oxidizing acids.

    Oxidation and Carburization (330, 800 Series): High nickel and chromium ensure excellent performance against metal dusting, oxidation, and carburization prevalent in industrial heat treatment and furnace applications.

    SCC Resistance: High nickel content across the entire family ensures strong resistance to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking.

    3. Machinability and Fabrication

    Work Hardening: All Incoloy grades exhibit high work-hardening rates. Proper tooling and slow speeds are required for successful machining of bar stock, particularly the age-hardened grades (925, 900 Series).

    Heat Treatment: High-strength grades (925, 900 Series) are typically machined in the solution-annealed condition and then precisely precipitation-hardened (aged) to achieve final, peak mechanical properties.
